Luxury Interior Design

True luxury isn’t about excess—it’s about intention. At Karen Sommers Interiors, luxury means surrounding yourself with beauty that holds meaning, comfort that doesn’t compromise on elegance, and design choices that reflect your most expansive life. Every space I create is infused with purpose, clarity, and a distinct emotional resonance. This is design that doesn’t just look good—it feels aligned, elevated, and deeply personal.

I believe that the energy and vibration of your home shape everything else in your life. That’s why I approach design as a multidimensional process, drawing from decades of experience, intuitive insight, and a finely honed sense of balance. Your home should function as both a refuge and a launchpad—designed to support your well-being, your creativity, and your highest goals.

I’ve worked in some of the most desirable and design-forward markets in the country, and I bring the full weight of that expertise into every consultation, every color palette, and every piece of the puzzle. But what sets my work apart is the alchemy—the ability to see not just what a room is, but what it wants to become. When we work together, you’re not just hiring a designer. You’re choosing a collaborator, a visionary, and a partner in the evolution of your space.

Luxury, means having a home that fully reflects your values, your lifestyle, and your story. Let’s create something timeless, soulful, and utterly original.

Our Mission

Interior Design for a New Era of Living

At Karen Sommers Interiors, I do more than design homes—I translate energy into form. Every project is a collaboration rooted in trust, intuition, and a deep understanding of how our surroundings shape our lives. I lead with kindness, clarity, and over two decades of experience across Southern California, the desert communities of Palm Springs, and now the East Coast. My work is grounded in the belief that interior design is a living, breathing extension of your story—a vision board you get to walk through every day.

For me, this work has never been about just choosing things. It’s about aligning beauty, function, and the unseen elements that make a space feel deeply right. Whether I’m working in person or virtually, I hold space for my clients as both guide and interpreter—bringing together color, flow, purpose, and soul to craft interiors that inspire and support. I’ve trained in multiple design modalities, from classic design principles to modern E-Design and intuitive methods that blend technology with artistry. Yes, I speak the language of architecture, furniture plans, and materials—but I also understand the subtle shifts that happen when a room finally clicks.

I’ve always believed that the spaces we inhabit should lift us. Whether you're in a condo, a historic estate, or building your dream retreat from the ground up, the home should be a sanctuary of power, creativity, and possibility. That’s what I create: environments that radiate positive energy and reflect the highest version of your life. This is not surface-level design. This is transformation from the inside out.

If you are looking for a designer who listens beyond the surface, who can translate your vision even when you can’t fully articulate it, and who leads with integrity, generosity, and a touch of magic—welcome. You’re in the right place.

Design is Intuitive and Inspired.

I’m Karen Sommers, the designer and founder of Karen Sommers Interiors. My work is rooted in a lifelong passion for creating spaces that are deeply intentional, visually stunning, and energetically aligned. I see every project as an opportunity to translate vision into form—to craft homes that feel as good as they look.

I was raised in the architectural heart of Palm Springs, where Mid-Century Modern lines, bold design, and the raw beauty of the desert landscape shaped my early understanding of space and style. Surrounded by homes that were as artful as they were livable, I developed a deep respect for environments that support and elevate the people who live in them. Interior design became the natural expression of that understanding.

After the profound changes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic and the passing of my beloved mother, I made the decision to sell my Los Angeles home and relocate to Western Pennsylvania. Today, I divide my time between the coasts, maintaining cherished relationships with West Coast clients in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, and Phoenix while expanding my services throughout the Northeast—including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Wherever you are, I bring the same clarity, compassion, and design intelligence to each project. Whether you’re looking to transform a primary residence, vacation home, or investment property, we’ll co-create a space that reflects your life, your legacy, and your next chapter.

Let’s begin.

Dear Karen,
We want to express our thanks and appreciation for all your efforts in styling our home to present it for sale. As soon as we decided that it was time to sell our home, our first call was to you. Having previously worked with you on a successful family
home renovation prior for sale, we knew you were the one to trust with our home staging project. Even though we weren’t local, you used video calls, websites and consistent email touch bases to connect with us and make sure our project was on
track. When we felt drained by our decluttering or worried about contractors, you always listened to our concerns, gave us helpful information, and told us, “Don’t worry.
We are going to make it fabulous.” Your positive attitude and wealth of knowledge gave us confidence that everything would come together and be ready on time for real estate photography. As promised, you turnkey styled our home so beautifully, making it appear impressive and elegant in the photographs. Your efforts resulted in multiple offers and our home
selling quickly at full asking price. Getting a home ready to sell is a big undertaking and we are grateful for all your guidance and vision. Your commitment and dedication
resulted in our home standing out from the competition and ensuring we got great offers. We would not hesitate to recommend your staging services to anyone looking to put their home on the market. Your professionalism and attention to detail is first rate and we look forward to working with you on our next home.
With gratitude,

Karen made every decision a breeze with our design board and 3-D room rendering.  We were so unsure about what would fit and where everything would go since by moving into the city from the burbs we were majorly downsizing.  Being able to see the furniture, rugs and accessories in our condo was a dream.  She even found the perfect rug to go with our soft green sofa and it ties everything together.  My wife and I love every single piece we bought, and KSI gave us all the shopping links and did all the research.  All we had to do was shop online, use her design notes and put things in place.

Karen is a wonder when it comes to helping my clients maximize the value of their homes.  I started working with her for Color Consultations in 2010 and it quickly turned into staging and redesign.  Having a designer/stager who will work with the clients existing furnishings and taking the property to the next level is invaluable. Every detail is attended to and her bedside manner with sellers is extraordinary.  Numerous clients who used her services for staging used her for design in their new homes.

I had been planning to sell my golf course home in Phoenix for a few months before the Covid lockdown happened. Selling a house and staging can be overwhelming in the best of times.  Fortunately, I had already booked Karen Sommers Interiors stage,  so we had been storing and eliminating and were able pull the trigger May when things reopened and showings were possible.  My house was listed in late May and closed in September.   It was a stunning listing! I loved it when I bought it, and loved it all over again.  Karen worked over  every detail with me, including suggesting a night shoot for our pool and patio.  The pictures my realtor had taken were stunning, it looked like something out of a resort magazine.

So glad to have a designer on speed dial when I had to make decisions on little things on the fly.   My husband and I have been doing a top to bottom renovation on our beautiful condo in LA, and at times one of us was on location.  Karen gave advice as needed and an inside track to her amazing trades and resources.   Renovations aren't for sissies, but you can make it easier by consulting with a pro.
